We are Tumaini Bridge — a bridge of hope for vulnerable communities

A community-based organization fostering resilience, dignity, inclusion, and opportunity among vulnerable children, youth, women, and families in Meru County, Kenya.

WHO WE ARE

Built by community, for community

Tumaini Bridge works closely with communities to strengthen protection systems, promote social justice, expand access to opportunities, and build sustainable pathways toward safer and more resilient communities.

We believe communities themselves hold the power to create lasting change. Our role is to strengthen local capacity, promote community ownership, and connect vulnerable populations to protection, opportunity, and support.

WHY WE EXISTS

Many communities continue to experience poverty, unemployment, abuse, neglect, harmful social practices, school dropout, and weak support systems. These challenges disproportionately affect vulnerable children, women, youth, and marginalised populations.

Tumaini Bridge was established to strengthen community-driven responses that protect vulnerable populations, promote dignity, and create opportunities for long-term transformation.

OUR STORY

Tumaini Bridge was founded in response to growing challenges affecting vulnerable children, youth, women, and families in local communities. Community members and volunteers recognised increasing cases of child neglect, school dropout, unemployment, gender-based violence, and limited access to opportunities.

Community recognition

Local volunteers observed worsening vulnerability — child neglect, GBV, poverty, and limited opportunities affecting families and future generations.

A shared vision for change

Driven by compassion, Tumaini Bridge was founded to strengthen community support systems and create opportunities for vulnerable populations to live with dignity and hope.

Growing impact

What began as community outreach and volunteer engagement has grown into a mission across child protection, youth empowerment, gender equality, livelihoods, and community resilience.

Today

Tumaini Bridge continues to work alongside communities, local leaders, institutions, and partners to build safer, stronger, and more resilient communities in Meru County.

OUR APPROACH

Community-led, participatory, and sustainable

Our approach puts communities at the centre of every decision. We work by strengthening local systems rather than replacing them.
